The ALSA Board of Directors is pleased to announce plans for the return of Showring in 2009!  Back in the hands of the ALSA membership, Showring will be a bi-monthly publication put together by an all volunteer committee of editors, organizers, writers, and designers, chaired by ALSA member, Gayle Woodsum.  Showring is slated for its return debut for a March/April issue.

Showring typically contains a communication from ALSA's President, updated information on awards earned by llamas, alpacas, and youth, show schedules, articles for youth members, show superintendents, and the membership, and results from the Regional shows and the Grand National show.

Showring readers are invited to send article, letters, general ideas for content you would like to see.  What are we looking for?  Written and photographic content that celebrates the fun, the competiition, the hard work conected to all aspects of llama and alpaca showing (before, during and after).  Have some advice?  An interesting story?  Don't keep it to yourself - share it with the world.  Suggested length for written pieces is 250-750 words in length.
Important Note:  To keep Showring unique and special, we request that all articles submitted be original, previously unpublished pieces.  Authors are welcome to submit articles to additional publications after they have appeared in Showring, but we prefer not to use items that have already been in print elsewhere.  If you do want us to consider reprinted articles, be sure when submitting them to notify us where and when they have published.

Prior to Showring being printed, a hard copy will be delivered to the Publications Committee liaison, selected by the Board of Directors, for approval.

Advertising is encouraged and needed for Showring, so rates are low. In fact, this publication is the least expensive way to promote your animals and target ads towards readers interested in all aspects of showing, show products, training and breeding animals. At this writing, advertisers reach over 3000 ALSA members, all of whom are actively involved in the fast growing show industry. These people look for good animals to purchase, insurance and other services, supplies, grooming and health products, and gift items among other things.

Help You With Your Ad!
If you are needing help with production of an ad for Showring, we can design your ad for a nominal fee. If you have film developed pictures you can send them directly to us to be scanned, if you wish or they can be scanned on your end, they just need to be high in resolution (4x6" at 300 DPI.) If you have digital camera files they need to have been taken at the highest resolution setting. Download the images from the camera as raw files (meaning, in no way should you manipulate or downsize them.) Any text you'd like on the ad can be sent to us as an attachment, like a Word document, or you could just type it in the body of an email or fax it - whatever is easiest for you.
